Week 9

Hi,  I am Dylan and this week I am the class leader.

This week we celebrated Matariki, Aotearoa New Year.

Our Buddy class came to see us today and we gave them cards that we had made and wind mills (titi parerera) out of flax (harakeke). We brought food for a shared morning tea and some games from home to play.

We also had a turn of making a  purerehua. It was once used by Maori to signal people when they were far away.

On Thursday I got the Heart of Achievement awerd IT WAS MY LAST ONE. Now I am going shopping with Mrs Warren.

Week 8

Hi, my name is Helena and I am the class leader this week.
This week our class have been practicing our poems for the 'Poem Competition' next week. We are learning to use expressive voices and gestures to go with our poems.
For art we have been doing collage about the olden day things to tie in with our 'Ghanges Unit.'
For reading we have to read a story from a journal and draw pictures in little boxes about it, when we have finished drawing the pictures we write about what we drew. This is called a story map.
A couple of days ago there was a choir performance. Lots of people came to see it and the school was invited to hear them this morning. They did a great performance. Finn and Joey are in the orchestra.

Rain, rain go away

Hi all,
I have spent today at e-time in the city learning all about blogs and wikis in the hope that Room 27 will become expert at communicating in a new and wizzy way. I am pretty sure the children will get there before me but it has been fun learning all the things our computers are able to do. Wish us luck.
